“Seeking God to Search Our Hearts”
The Palm Breeze - August 2010
Psalms 139:23-24
“Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts . Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.
The Psalmist called out to God to search and test his heart and thoughts. He was opening up himself in the most vulnerable of ways and allowing God to show what was truly inside of him. It is difficult to ask someone to be brutally honest with you about yourself. We invent ways to hide and conceal parts of ourselves from others so that we can appear better than what we really are. But the one who knows us best loves us the most. He shines light in the darkest places of our hearts yet His love does not diminish. We turn from those ways that are displeasing to Him. The Psalmist was so confident of God's unconditional love and acceptance that even after such a thorough examination he could still say to God "lead me."
The PBC Church Family will be coming together and calling out to God to search our hearts so that we may have unity, spiritual healing, and renewal. The IESBA staff will lead us in this church-wide gathering. I highly encourage you to be a part of this two week spiritual journey. The four dates we will actually meet together on the campus are August 18, 22, 25, 29 (Wednesdays and Sundays). The other days we will be involved in "seeking God to search our hearts" in private moments as directed by our leaders. I pray this will be the beginning of a powerful movement of the Spirit in our lives and in the life of Palm Baptist Church.
In Christ's Service,
Pastor Albert
